Interior Designers in Tathawade: Our Neighbourhood, and What Its Homes Need

Our studio is on Cambridge International School Road in Punawale, which puts Tathawade a few minutes away. We know these buildings, these society offices and these access roads, and that changes the practical side of a project more than most people expect — a site our team can reach in ten minutes gets supervised properly.

What Tathawade is

Tathawade sits between Wakad, Punawale and the Mumbai–Bengaluru highway, with Hinjewadi a short run away. It carries an unusual mix: a large student population around the education campuses, IT professionals who want a Hinjewadi commute without Wakad's density, and families who bought early and stayed.

The housing follows that mix. Compact 1 and 2 BHK units of 400 to 800 sq ft carpet aimed at rental, 2 and 3 BHK family flats of 700 to 1,150 sq ft in mid and high-rise towers, and a steady supply of new possessions still coming through.

The two briefs here

Rental-oriented. A large share of Tathawade stock is let, often to students or young professionals sharing. That argues for hard-wearing over decorative: neutral laminate rather than gloss, good drawer hardware because that is what fails and gets reported, durable paint that repaints quickly between tenancies, and full-height storage. Skip wallpaper and delicate feature walls entirely.

Owner-occupied. Usually a couple or a young family, both working, with a hybrid pattern. The priorities are a properly detailed work setup rather than a laptop at the dining table, a kitchen that handles weeknight cooking well, real entry storage, and finishes that need no seasonal attention.

Site conditions in Tathawade

  • New-construction moisture. Recently handed-over towers still hold slab and plaster moisture. Wardrobes fixed flush against a fresh external wall, without a moisture barrier and a ventilation gap, are the standard second-monsoon failure in this belt.

  • Service-lift sizing. Full 8x4 boards often will not fit. Joinery has to be designed as factory-cut components sized to the lift — a drawing-stage decision, not a delivery-day discovery.

  • Society interior rules. Refundable deposits, fixed working hours, limited lift slots per day and debris charges. Every society here differs, and they change your schedule by weeks.

  • Highway dust and noise on the units facing the expressway side. Good window gasketing and heavier curtain fabric earn their cost in those flats.

  • Open builder snags. Close the developer's rectification list before starting, or you pay twice for the same tile.

What we would prioritise in a Tathawade flat

  1. Electrical planning against a settled appliance list. Done first and done once — adding points later means chasing a painted wall.

  2. Vertical storage. Carpet areas here are efficient rather than generous. Take joinery to the ceiling; the top 18 inches of every wall is storage most flats waste.

  3. The utility balcony, designed properly, so the washing machine and drying leave the kitchen and bathroom.

  4. A single zoning move in the living-dining — a low console, a ceiling change or a lighting break — rather than a partition that kills the daylight.

  5. Sun control on the long west faces many of these towers have.

Tathawade interior cost bands, 2026

  • Rental-ready 1 BHK: ₹3 L to ₹5 L.

  • Rental-ready 2 BHK (kitchen, wardrobes, painting, basic ceiling): ₹4.5 L to ₹7 L.

  • Owner-occupied 2 BHK: ₹8 L to ₹14 L.

  • Owner-occupied 3 BHK: ₹13 L to ₹22 L.

The local advantage

Proximity is not a marketing line in this business — it is supervision. A site ten minutes from our studio gets visited without a half-day of travel built into every visit, material reaches it without a highway run, and a problem found at 11 am is looked at the same morning. That is the practical difference between a project that drifts and one that closes.

You are also welcome to visit the studio itself and see the material library — boards, laminates, hardware and finishes in hand rather than on a screen. Book a free design consultation, see our design and turnkey services, or find us on the contact page.
